The end of a year is typically the time for looking back, and since this is the end of the first decade of a new century the world is currently vomitastic with resolutions and reflections. I don't know maybe I am feeling more cynical than normal but since (sorry mom) I was 17 January 1st hasn't meant anymore than a slightly worse hangover than say June 21st. There is no cosmic slate being wiped clean and Raptor Jesus isn't granting you a do over. If you are unhappy with your life in August; fucking change it in August!!
Compared to some my 2009 has been great, everyone I love is alive and healthy. My husband and I recently celebrated 10 years together and our fifth wedding anniversary; plus Jim and Pam got married! Yes, I have had some superb lows this year, most notably a hardcore betrayal from someone I've considered a best friend for 14 years; but fuck it! Things could have been worse! Like for example when I was a teenager I went to a psychic, she told me I was going to die before I was 28. Now granted this was a Daytona Beach A1A psychic; generally not a real credible source of anything other than where to score some meth, however someone predicts your death you kinda sit up and notice. So when this September rolled around and I was still very much alive I realized things could suck worse than a horrible friend or ER being canceled. See reflection isn't reserved for Dec. 31st!
P.S. I do have one New Years Resolution: To learn when a semi colon is appropriate; I suspect I never use it correctly.
